Introduction to Metal Fabrication and Welding: Build a Metal Plant


Saturdays – February 17th and 24th and March 3rd and 10th

Time: 10:00AM-Noon

Instructor: Jonathan Whitfill – holds a Master of Fine Arts from Texas Tech University with an emphasis in sculpture. He has exhibited nationally and internationally. CASP Director, Chad Plunket, will assist with studio safety demonstrations.

Location: The CH Foundation Metals Studio; behind the studios at 1106 5th Street.

Class Description: If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to weld, this is the class for you. In the class students will learn general studio tools and shop safety and fabrication will focus on torch cutting, forging, and MIG welding. These skills will be put to use while students build plants, flowers, or trees with steel.

Additional Information: All materials to execute the project are provided by CASP. Students are required to wear appropriate studio clothes (long pants, closed toed shoes) and provide their own welding gloves. Students have access to open studio hours Thursdays 5-9pm and Saturdays 1-6pm.
