Caitlin Hawkins (October '26 – Current)
As a CASP resident, engaging with the Lubbock community has inspired me through meaningful connections with local people and strengthened my desire to be involved in the city’s creative community.
Caitlin Hawkins is a ceramic artist based in Lubbock, Texas. She received her BFA in Ceramics from Texas Tech University in 2023 and currently works as a studio technician and ceramics instructor at the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts.
Hawkins’ current body of ceramic works span both the functional and sculptural, drawing inspiration from the anatomy of the heart, antique glassware, Gothic-style architecture and reliquaries. She explores surface and texture through carving and glaze, as well as atmospheric effects created through the firing process.
Her work seeks to inspire tactile curiosity and invite viewers to consider their own attachments and relationship to symbolism, process, ritual, and object.
