LIVE/WORK STUDIOS

Kimbal Adams, the current artist-in-residence of CASP Studio 4, earned his BFA in studio art from Texas Tech University in May of 2023 with a concentration in painting. Although his current work is made up mostly of mixed media paintings, he often utilizes sculpture and original writing as aids and/or alternatives for actualizing his concepts, the subjects of which focus on the peculiarity of the human experience. Kimbal is drawn to personal experiences like memories, dreams, anxieties, religion, and relationships amongst the body and domestic spaces. A lifelong resident of West Texas, Kimbal has learned to find strangeness where others may not see it. The absurd quality that he gravitates towards gives him a line to tiptoe between humor, mundanity, and misery.

Engaging with the Lubbock community downtown has granted me a world of experience as a local artist. I am thankful to have integrated myself into the Lubbock arts community and that I am able to call CASP my home. My experience at CASP has granted me the privilege of experimentation and the freedom of expression, as well as the opportunity to work alongside and communicate with people whose beliefs, backgrounds, and passions look much different from mine.
