Build Your Own Garden Gate


Dates: Saturdays: February 8th, 15th and 22nd

Time: 10 AM-Noon. Open Studio hours 1-6PM on Saturdays and weekdays by appointment.

Instructor: Jonathan Whitfill, MFA Texas Tech University.

Location: The CH Foundation Metals Studio in the studios at 1106 5th Street. Classes on the 15th and 22nd will be for installing gates at the students’ locations of choice.

Class Description: In this class you will build your own garden gate (approximately 3’x 5′). This class is well suited for intermediate to advanced students. Beginners are welcome if you are willing to work hard. Students will learn and improve their skills in metal fabrication, MIG welding, chopping, grinding and bending and create a unique work of art.

Additional Information: Students will be able to adapt the project to their skill level. All project materials are provided. If you want to build a larger gate, fees for additional materials may apply. This class if for building gates only. If you have another project you would like to work on you are welcome to utilize our open studio hours on Saturdays from 1-6PM. Please wear appropriate studio clothes (long pants and closed toed shoes) and bring your own welding gloves. The course includes access to open studio hours Saturdays 1-6pm and weekdays by appointment as needed.
